Saint Anthony

Patron Saint of the lost.
Anthony is a great saint to ask for help in finding whatever you are looking for. But who was Saint Anthony? Anthony's birth and baptismal name was Fernando Martins. He was born in Portugal in 1195 to a wealthy family, yet he felt called to the priesthood and chose a life of poverty. He was known for his powerful preaching, expert knowledge of scripture, and undying love and devotion to the poor and the sick.

Patroness of unmarried women, housewives, women in labour or who want to be pregnant, grandmothers, mothers and educators.
Saint Anne of Nazareth, was a woman adored by God and filled with God’s Grace. Anne was chosen by God to be the mother of Our Lady and maternal grandmother of Jesus Christ. She was born from the House of David, the line which was prophesied to give birth to Christ. In Hebrew, her name was quite possibly Hannah.

Saint Bernadette

Bernadette is the patron saint of the sick, Lourdes, against poverty, shepherds and shepherdesses, and people ridiculed for their faith.
Bernadette of Lourdes was a French nun who lived in the 1800s. As a young girl she lived in a small town called Lourdes, in southern France. When she was 14 years old, the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared to Bernadette in a cave near to her home. A shrine to Our Lady of Lourdes was created at the grotto where Bernadette had her visions. The feast day of Our Lady of Lourdes was established by the Catholic
church in 1890.

Saint Patrick

Patron saint of Ireland
Patrick was a 5th-century missionary to Ireland and later served as Bishop there. He is credited with bringing Christianity to parts of Ireland and was probably partly responsible for the Christianisation of the Picts and Anglo-Saxons. He used shamrocks, now commonly associated with the holiday, as a tool in his ministry to explain the Holy Trinity. He is one of the patron saints of Ireland along with Saint Brigid and Saint Columba (also known as Saint Colmcille).

Saint Teresa of Calcutta

Patron saint of World Youth Day, the
Mother Teresa founded the Order of the Missionaries of Charity, a Roman Catholic congregation of women dedicated to the poor, particularly to those in India, that opened numerous centres serving the blind, the aged, and the disabled. She was the recipient of numerous honours, including the 1979 Nobel Prize for Peace.

Patron Saint of England as well as many other different countries, among them Bulgaria, Greece and Ethiopia. He is also the Patron of knights, soldiers, scouts, fencers and archers,
Like many saints, Saint George was described as a martyr after he died for his Christian faith. It is believed that, during the persecutions of the Emperor Diocletian in the early 4th century, Saint George was executed for refusing to make a sacrifice in honour of the pagan gods.

Saint John Paul II

Feast Day 22nd October
Patron Saint of World Youth Day, Parkinsons, young Catholics and families.
Pope John Paul II was ordained in 1946, became the Bishop of Ombi in 1958, and became the Archbishop of Krakow in 1964. He was made a cardinal by Pope Paul VI in 1967, and in 1978 became the first non-Italian pope in more than 400 years. He was a vocal advocate for human rights and used his influence to effect political change. He died in Italy in 2005. It was announced in July 2013 that he would be declared a saint in April of the following year.
Saint Angela

Feast Day 27th January
Patron Saint of the sick, disabled and physically challenged people and those grieving the loss of parents.
Angela was inspired by the Holy Spirit to dedicate herself to the Lord and to give her life in service to the Church to help everyone grow closer to the Lord. Still filled with grief, she prayed for God to reveal the condition of her deceased sister's soul. In a vision, she learned her sister was in Heaven with the company of saints. She became increasingly more devout and joined the Third Order of Saint Francis to be married to the Lord and His Church.

Patron saint of travellers, including motorists,
Saint Christopher was a man of great size and strength who devoted himself to Jesus by helping travellers cross a dangerous river. One day a child asked to ride on Christopher's shoulders across the river, but the infant seemed to grow heavier and heavier with every step. When they arrived on the opposite shore, the child identified himself as Christ, telling the holy man that he had just carried the weight of the world. Saint Christopher became one of the most popular patron saints for travellers in the Middle Ages.
